Bridges
Foster youth face tremendous obstacles as they prepare for and enter the adult world. Many are released by the system on their 18th birthday unprepared and alone.
Bridges is a multi-faceted program designed to span the gap to academic and career success by providing critical resources, mentor connections and engaging community support. Through Bridges, we provide:
- Mentors that serve as education and career advocates.
- In-depth academic guidance & support which includes overcoming high school credit deficiencies, strategies for getting a high-school diploma or GED, and post-secondary/vocational planning. We hope to launch a tutoring program in 2007.
- "Dare to Dream" Academic Scholarships
- Connections to colleges offering supportive services for foster youth.
- Assistance with transitional housing, most often on an emergency basis.
- Connections to employment opportunities and job readiness skills.
- TECHweek... a week long technology camp.
- ... and so much more!
